The Chains......

October 8, 2018

The Definition of Chain - Merriam-Webster, a series of usually metal links or rings connected to or fitted into one another and used for various purposes (such as support, restraint, transmission of mechanical power, or measurement).

Many of us wear our chains as an accessory to a great blouse or dress.  Thank God for fashion designers who make them all so different.  We have so many to choose from.

What about the chains that are not so fashionable.  The chains of our lives that keep us from moving into our future.  We say we are free, however, some of us are in secret bondage with very large chains.

The chains of the past.  We become a victim of our own past, which will place our future on pause. What I know about our past is that God has forgiven us.   Isaiah 43:25 - “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.  However, although we have been forgiven, we will at times continue to punish ourselves.  We have a hard time forgiving ourselves, in spite of the fact that God has cleared us of our sins and remembers them no more.

The chains of the past.  They will keep us from finding that great job we want.  It will stop us from that dream business we want to start. It will keep us from loving again.  It will stop usfrom trusting again.  It will tell us that we are not worthy and that no one will love us ever again.

The chains of the past.  You will find yourself saying,

  • I will never do this or I will never do that.

  • I will never allow my children to go through what I went through.

  • I will never work for a company like that again.

  • I will never fall in love again, I will always keep my guard up.

"Freedom is the power to choose your own chains."

I am encouraging you to not set boundaries on your future based on what has happened in your past.  When we set our own boundaries we leave no room for God.  Once we have declared what we will not allow into our lives, we have already placed a concrete fence around ourselves.

God will not go against our free will.  If we want to live in a concrete palace, that is our choice.  But, we can't complain when God does not come through with a bulldozer to try and knock the palace down.

We all have free will and we get to pick and choose our emotional chains.

What will you choose?

Meditate on that.

Be Blessed.  Hugs.
