Words For You
Stay In The Know:

Just Show Up!

July 23, 2018

Ever get invited to an event and you are super excited to attend. However, on the day of your event, you come up with a number of reasons why you no longer want to attend.  Here it goes:

  • Oh my, it is suppose to rain all day;

  • I can't fit into the dress I picked out;

  • I have to get up early tomorrow morning; and

  • I don't want to bump into "you know who" they were invited as well.

I know I have been there.  However, have you ever considered what would happen if you just "SHOWED UP."  We have the tendency to talk ourselves out of opportunities and possibilities because we think too much.  Sometimes God will call you to do something that is not familiar and you shy away from the opportunity because it is new and different.

I want to challenge you all to show up when God calls you to do something.  Remember that where he calls you he has prepared the place for you.  Don't believe me?  Read - John 14:3 (New Living Translation) - When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.  Is that proof enough?

When you have a gift or passion stick to it.  If you post a blog and only 1 person reads it, then your job is done.  If you host one event and 10 people show up, the job is done.  If you post a message on social media and you get only 1 like, yep guess what, the job is done.

God has called you to show up, he never mentioned anything about how many people would be there.  He is paying more attention to your obedience than your sacrifice.  1 Samuel 15: 22 - (New Living Translation) But Samuel replied, "What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams.

Next time God asks you to show up and you decide to sleep in bed or attend an entirely different event remember, that it was your idea not his.

When he calls you to show up - simply respond by saying "Yes, God, What Time Shall I Be There?"

Meditate on that.
