Surrender - the definition - cease resistance to an enemy or opponent and submit to the
There is something so liberating about surrendering. For some it is like a breath of fresh air. You don't really know that you are in captivity until you actually surrender. There are some that view surrendering as a form of weakness, to the contrary. Surrendering means that you have finally discovered that you can't do something in your own strength. As women we live these superhero lives. We have jobs, we then come home and cook, then we do the laundry, change the linen, clean the bathroom, help the kids with schoolwork, spend some creative time with the little ones, then there is the husband/fiancé/boyfriend. They need their time with you as well.
You have the big project at work that requires quiet time at home or on the train or bus. The deadlines are insane. There is this meeting then that meeting and then the conference call. You then remember that your 7 year old has an evening play at school. The car breaks down and you need to get to the mechanic. Your parents are not feeling well and you have to go check and make sure they are okay. Your kid is acting up in school. The bus breaks down and you have an early morning appointment. Your husband is annoyed about his life and his job. The doctor calls and he needs to talk you about a few test results. Oh and now you have PMS and you want to scream!
Have you ever felt like you could crawl into a corner and just cry. You can place your body into a fetal position and just stay there for hours. All it takes some days is to see 2 plates, 1 fork and a cup in the sink. You have now starred in your own episode of "SNAPPED."
Surrender! God did not create us to carry these burdens. Matthew 11:28 - "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." We can not fight life in our own strength. We will certainly breakdown and feel defeated. Surrender! It is okay.
When life gets hard, take a time out and have a one-on-one with God. Tell him what is going on. My conversations with God are not eloquent. I say what is on my mind for after all he already knows. When I can not take or do anymore I finally throw in the towel and surrender.
Lord, I give this all to you as I can't anymore. You said to bring all my burdens to you Lord, so here you are. What I have learned along the way is that we can't take these issues back. We have to give them to God and walk away.
Surrender! You will be able to exhale and live life differently.
Meditate on that.
