What is rest? To cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength.
Unfortunately, this is not one of my stronger characteristics. I struggle in the area of rest. I am always doing and doing and doing. It is not until I am physically exhausted or sick that I actually stop to rest. At that point, I am so tapped out that I can't do anything for days at a time.
It is important to find a place of rest during the day, week and month. My dad is always telling me that I need to take cat naps whenever I can. He says "Lilly you need a power nap every now and again". My rest does not always have to come in the form of sleep. I sometimes turn off all of the noise in my house and I can sit with a cup of tea and read a book. You can turn on your headphones and take a bath. My favorite thing to do is sit at the beach or on a bench in the park and watch all the people around me move about.
The body needs mental, physical and emotional rest. When we are not rested all the way around we can develop ailments. There is nothing like having to be forced to rest. It is not always under the best of circumstances.
I encourage you to take a break from your need to do. I can assure you that after your rest you will still have plenty to do. So love yourself enough to take a rest and enjoy it!
Meditate on that!
